Iran Re-Closes Hormuz After Israel Strikes Beirut — Ceasefire Hangs by a Thread — Gladu Crosses Floor, Liberals One Seat Shy of Majority
Less than 24 hours after a two-week U.S.–Iran ceasefire came into force, Iran shuttered the Strait of Hormuz again as Israel struck 100 Hezbollah targets in Beirut, killing 182. Islamabad talks are still on for Saturday. In Ottawa, Marilyn Gladu became the fifth floor-crosser to join the Liberals, leaving Carney one seat short of a majority ahead of Monday’s byelections. Sensex surged 2,946 points; TSX hit a five-week high on the ceasefire rally.
